About 2 years ago, as a company, we decided that we needed to rati-
onalize the different investments we had in the email space. We had
servers (hotmail, Exchange), we had multiple email clients (Windows
Mail, MSN Explorer, Outlook, Hotmail etc) a ton of stuff in between.

While Microsoft's Windows XP operating system and Xbox game console may
grab the headlines, nothing beats the company's Office applications for sheer
moneymaking power. That's why Office XP, set to develop for easy and more
or less problem free maintenance....  See if you need any Windows updates.

In most situations, it isn't advisable for two operating systems to share the same
partition, particularly if both are Windows operating systems.... For example, you
can't install Windows NT and Windows 2000 on the same partition without some 
potential problems cropping up. The primary cause is that both platforms share the
 \Program Files folder, which can lead to  application compatibility issues and app-
lication problems that are hard to diagnose.

--The best solution is to install operating systems into their own partitions; yet even 
that solution can have some undesirable consequences. Unless you hide the partitions
from one another, all operating systems you install after the first one will be installed
to drive D:, E:, F:, and so on but not to drive C: because the first operating system 
will be hosted on C:. A way to get around this is with a program such as PowerQuest's 
PartitionMagic, which can dynamically hide partitions. Install the first operating system,
hide its partition, and install the next; hide that partition and install the third. Each ope-
rating system will treat its partition as C:.

If you want to install Windows 9x or Windows Me and Windows 2000, you can achieve 
a similar result by using NTFS. Create an NTFS partition to hold Windows 2000 and a 
FAT32 partition to hold 9x/Me. Install Windows 2000 to the NTFS partition and, once it's
up and running, make the FAT32 partition active. Reboot and install 9x/Me to the FAT32
partition. Because that operating system doesn't recognize NTFS partitions, it will treat 
its drive as drive C:...... When you need to boot Windows 2000, use Fdisk to make the
NTFS partition active and then reboot.

How to create-custom system tray with Quick Tray.
The Windows 2000 Resource Kit includes Quick Tray, a feature that lets you specify a
selection of applications that you want to appear on the tray. You can then launch or 
switch to an application by clicking on it on the tray. This mimics the function of the 
Quick Start toolbar, which resides right beside the Start button on the taskbar.... The
benefit to using Quick Tray instead of the Quick Start toolbar is that Quick Tray packs
the icons closer together, giving you more room on the taskbar for minim. applications.

Quick Start automatically creates a data file named Quicktray.dat in the same folder as
Quicktray.exe and uses the file to store information about your applications.... You can
add a shortcut to Quicktray.exe in your Startup folder to have Quick Tray start automa-
tically. You can also share the Quicktray.dat file with other users to give them the same
custom tray as your own. Check the Windows 2000 Resource Kit Tools Help file for more
information on using and configuring Quick Tray.
